Collection: Metal Removal Water Filters – Eliminate Iron, Manganese, Sulfur & Heavy Metals

Iron and manganese are naturally occurring metals found in rocks and soil. As groundwater flows through these formations, it dissolves and carries these metals into wells and water supplies.

When present in excess, iron and manganese cause a range of problems: reddish-brown or black staining on fixtures, sinks, toilets, and laundry; metallic or bitter taste in drinking water; rust flakes; and buildup inside pipes, water heaters, and pressure tanks. Oxidized iron often leaves unsightly pink or brown rings around bathtubs, toilets, and swimming pools.

Hydrogen sulfide (the gas responsible for the unpleasant “rotten egg” smell) is frequently found alongside iron and manganese. It forms under the same low-oxygen and low-pH conditions and further worsens water quality and odor.
